Drones

FlyBed

In 2012 I discovered a passion for multirotor drones. They allow me to combine embedded software development and control system design with handy mechanical setups. And because they propel high into the air and can move in a very flexible way is the work is highly motivating.

During my studies I worked on my own fully self built qudrotor. I spent most of my study vacations developing the open srouce control unit for it which I called FlyBed .

PX4 Logo

In 2016 after finishing my studies I for the first time got to work on the open source software project PX4 Autopilot for the chinese drone manufacturer Yuneec . I was able to contibute to the adoption of

PX4 is used by many drones around the globe and it’s a pleasure and honor to work together with all the contributors. Following my previous focus I concentrate on multirotor related and certain core infrastructure components like remote input and battery management.

Auterion Logo

Since April 2019 I work as a software engineer at Auterion . I’m in the flight control team, mostly working with and on PX4 .

My main goal is to improve and maintain the PX4 microcontroller firmware based on combined feedback of different stakeholders. Often I’m analyzing state machine, control or guidance problems based on logs and try to find simple and robust solutions for future releases. Sometimes I get to jump into customer vehicle integration projects.
